Kalanggaman Island is a hidden gem nestled in the province of Leyte in the Philippines! This island was actually not in my original plan. It was only going to be around Cebu, as I thought this was going to be a long ride from there. But I was wrong. The island wasn’t too far from Malapascua and the boat ride was smooth. I’m glad that the tides were good to us so we were able to enjoy the ride with the nice driver putting on some lively music.

It’s at least a 2-hour boat ride to the island if coming from Malapascua. Kalanggaman Island is a small island with beautiful turquoise waters located in Palompon, Leyte which is part of the Visayan region of the Philippines. It has a unique sandbar which is best seen during summer season. Unfortunately, it wasn’t summer when I went there so I only saw a bit of the sandbar. Also, they only allow 500 tourists a day to enter (not sure if this is still the case now).

KALANGGAMAN ISLAND ITINERARY

- Day Tour Rate (Non Palompon Tourist) = Php 150
- Day Tour Rate (International Tourist) = Php 500
- The boat tour from Palompon to Kalanggaman Island costs around $50 per person for a day trip, including round-trip transportation and environmental fees. Overnight stays may incur additional charges.
- Private boat rentals are also available for larger groups and can be arranged with local boat operators for a negotiated fee.
