Exploring Leon, Nicaragua: A Travel Diary

I still remember the time I was writing down my bucket list and one of them is to live in another country. And now that it came true, I still can’t believe it myself. Nicaragua is now a part of my life, and this friendly country was truly something worth remembering. I have never imagined to have lived in a place where everything is different. The language (Spanish), the food, the people, and the place itself; two words- simply amazing!
Here I was, stood proud and took photographs of the largest cathedral in Central America- Basilica Catedral de Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion de Leon. It’s color clearly represents peace and carries a proud positive influence between the year 1747 and the early 19th century until now. They consider the church as a symbol of hope and home.
Below are some photos around the area:

I loved walking around this area. It’s so clean!

All smiles standing at a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

I love hearing a church bell that usually rings early in the morning or mid afternoon.

Can’t believe my hair somehow blended in with the blue sky. Haha!

Left side view of the top. So pretty details!

Center view of the top. Breathtaking!

I love the old school look of the church area

So tempted to ring this gigantic bell!

Hey there pretty dove!

The church interior. Did you know that this is also the home to the tomb of the most famous Nicaraguan poet, Reuben Dario?

And another lovely dove!

Just a quick snap of the church’s street.

Sad knowing I haven’t purchased a wider lens to better capture the exterior of the church or got a better angle but hopefully I’ll have one soon.

This is probably my favorite photo!

One last view of the top!

The church’s front view.
And there you have it folks! I hope you enjoyed the photos around this amazing site! The beauty of it will mesmerize you once you see it in person. I always loved exploring places that have unique stories and being able to live in it was such an honor I will always be grateful for. This country welcomed me for two and a half years in the best way possible.
‘Til next post!
